In the vein of classic 'beauty' photography, Epidermis highlights and showcases the skins of women less often seen.
Normality is defined by the images we see all around us, we are led to believe all women have idealised, flawless skin - they don't. Whether unshown or simply disguised, many women have conditions such as acne, rosacea and eczema and many of these women feel a pressure to hide behind a mask of makeup, covering up what actually makes them unique.
Here these beautiful women stand unashamed of baring their skin.

Rita Lino : Polaroid Diary (ongoing works)
Born in Portugal, 1986. Rita Lino began tracing her own path in Photography by exploring freely and without any kind of pre-conception the construction of the still image. Focusing mainly on her personal work, the photographer as been developing and materializing it under series of photos, visual exercises that explore a “natural obsession” with the self and the persona, a continuous “work-in-progress” that uses the body as primer matter to be re-created and beautifully exorcised. Lino’s describes her Photography as animal, instinctive, intimate, narcissistic, filled with emotions and sensations, a diary with a thousand possible interpretations, a spiritual place, a self sustained rehab outlined by the brutal transparency of her own life. She´ve been developing your own personal series and projects and also collaborating with several international initiatives, artist residences, exhibitions among others, as so editorial initiatives by contributing with her personal series or by creating exclusive photo series for international magazines.

"Je vis à Paris depuis quelques années et cela fait des mois que je travaille sur une série de portraits intimes de parisiennes. Je déshabille mes amies, mais aussi des inconnues rencontrées dans la rue, devant mon appareil photo. Étant étrangère, je me sers de mon projet pour m’approcher des françaises et mieux comprendre ces femmes, qui au premier regard m’ont semblé si différentes. Je photographie les jeunes parisiennes nues, toujours chez elles, sur leur territoire intime. En laissant de côte tout ce qui est superflu, n’ayant rien pour se couvrir, mes modèles laissent ressortir leur vulnérabilité. Dévêtues, elles restent néanmoins habillées de leur âme. C’est ce moment magique que j’essaye de capturer dans mon objectif. La féminité, le mystère et la poésie sont les choses que je recherche, à travers mon travail, dans ce monde pragmatique et raisonnable."
"It’s been a few years now that I’ve been living in Paris. It’s been months that I’ve been undressing my friends, their friends and complete strangers I meet in the streets of Paris, in front of my camera. I photograph young parisian women nude, always at home, in their intimacy. Being a foreigner, I use my work as a means to approach and better undertstand these women who I first found to be quite different. Having nothing on to cover their bodies, my models seem to envelope themselves in their souls. It is this magic moment I am trying to capture in my lense. Feminity, mystery and poetry is what I am looking for, with the help of my camera, in this pragmatic contemporary world."
